Jesse Strauss '95
Jesse Strauss ’95, has served as a New York City Urban Fellow, litigated in state and federal court and clerked for a United States District Court Judge in Brooklyn. In his most recent law firm job, Jesse represented public pension funds (including the New York City and New York State funds) in cases against public corporations that committed securities fraud.
Outside of work, Jesse serves as the membership chair of the New York Democratic Lawyers Council, a voting rights and election law organization, as a voting member of Community Board 2 in Brooklyn, and as a member of the executive committee of the Independent Neighborhood Democrats, a local reform political club. Jesse has also served on the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s New York City Affairs Committee where he headed the sub-committee on the New York City Affairs Award.
During the 2008 presidential election, Jesse organized lawyers for voter protection efforts as the New York Coordinator for Young Lawyers for Obama. In 2010, Jesse ran to be a male member of the state committee representing the registered Democrats of the 52nd Assembly District in Brooklyn.
Jesse graduated from George Washington University and Brooklyn Law School. Jesse has worked for two private law firms. For ten weeks in the fall of 2007, Jesse traveled to Ghana, West Africa, to help mediate land disputes as a volunteer with the American Jewish World Service. In his free time, Jesse blogs for The Huffington Post, enjoys independent music, modern art, travel, hiking and skiing.
