Jesse Ash '02
Jesse Ash ’02 is an award-winning filmmaker and a vegetarian. Upon graduating from Townsend Harris, he swam across the East River to attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and currently serves on its Alumni Council.
Jesse is now a partner at Greener Media where he produces and directs socially conscious videos. Over the last two years, he has started an environmental practices policy for the company and developed partnerships with the Green Business Summit, Green Apple Festival (America’s largest Earth Day festival) and the Sustainable South Bronx, a non-profit group dedicated to environmental justice.
Last summer, Jesse won the grand prize in Stand Up 2 Cancer’s Film Challenge for his animated short, “Magical Cure,” which also won a Webby award for best public service announcement. His short films “Icebox Blues” and “Breathe Easy” have been screened at the Rubin Museum of Art. “Icebox” also opened for Hitchcock’s “To Catch A Thief” at the Brooklyn Bridge Park “Movies with A View” summer film series last July.
Jesse is a member of the ROI Community, NYU’s Young Alumni Leadership Circle, and the Sustainable Business Network of NYC, and was recently selected as a Shapiro Family Fellow. Jesse is currently developing numerous projects that will hopefully inspire change in the world.
