More than 50 years ago, Townsend Harris High School closed its doors. The school has re-opened in 1987 to become one of the most admired in the state.

From the THHS website:

Townsend Harris High School is a unique and exciting combination of the old and new. It offers the subject matter of a classical humanistic education combined with the best available methods of teaching, including the extensive use of computer technology. The school is staffed by teachers dedicated to their students and expert in their chosen academic disciplines. In addition, it is supported and enriched by the academic and physical resources of Queens College and by the efforts of devoted and energetic alumni.
